The engagement ring truly is that symbol of love and eternity. Because of that important significance, it is essential that the ring be just perfect! Whether it is a ring being passed down in the family or a luxurious diamond engagement ring, there should be much thought put behind choosing the ring. The engagement ring should not only have a special meaning to it, but also be of high quality as well. In order to choose that special engagement ring, there a few pieces of information to keep in mind while trying to decide on a ring. Otherwise known as the four "C's" of selecting a diamond, the colour, cut, clarity, and carat are truly what make a diamond engagement ring of high quality.
Color
When a diamond is placed high on the jeweller's colour rating scale, the more precious it is. The diamond is then considered to be of the finest quality and therefore will be more expensive than other diamonds ranking lower on the colour rating scale. In addition, if the diamond has a high ranking then it is considered to be as close to colourless as possible, making it a high-quality diamond. When choosing a diamond for an engagement ring make sure it is as close to colourless as possible.
Cut
When selecting a diamond, many people think that the cut of the diamond is the shape of the diamond. Unfortunately, that is not the case. A cut of the diamond is actually how the jeweller cuts the diamond so that he or she arranges the diamonds' facets and angles just right in order for the diamond to shine to its fullest potential. When a diamond is cut right, the diamond will allow the necessary light in so the light can reflect back its natural beauty, shine, and radiance. Be sure to have your diamond analyzed by a certified and expert jeweller in order to be certain that your diamond was cut correctly.
Clarity
The clarity of a diamond is determined upon the type and amount of imperfections a diamond has within it. Because diamonds are a product of nature, it is quite rare to find a diamond that does not have any imperfections. The fewer inclusions there are the higher quality diamond it is. Sometimes external and some internal imperfections are able to be cut away. But it is very important to have your diamond looked at by a professional jeweller so that way he or she can look at it under high intense magnification for other imperfections that may not be able to be seen with the naked eye.
Carat
By definition carat is the measurement used to decide the size and weight of a diamond. The more carats a diamond has, typically the more expensive it can be. But remember, the larger the diamond is does not necessarily mean that it is better than its smaller counterpart. It is essential to remember that what makes a diamond precious is its colour, cut and clarity and not the size. Although you want the diamond to be of a nice size, do not forget the importance of the other "C's" and those "C's" are what make a diamond truly shine.
