My fiancé and I have been together for 16 years this October. Really from school and we have 2 wonderful children who are 11 and 5. We have brought our family home but with children and a house we always put the wedding to one side. We got engaged about 7 years ago now, the proposal was not a grand affair but between the two of us when we finally got the mortgage through on our home. We did have an engagement party for family and Friends.

 I have now been with my partner for 9 years having been best friends since we were children. After year 7, I had given up on the idea of marriage accepting to be content with our relationship. Earlier this year I was bridesmaid for my best friend in Spain. We went to Spain to celebrate her wedding there, and stayed at a beautiful mansion on the mountains. A few days into the holiday, my partner asked me to go a walk. We walked down a deserted road through a range of fields. He asked me to sit on a rock as he had to tell me something! I became worried and anxious wondering what he had to tell me. I did as he said, and he took out a ring which he had selected, got onto his knee and asked me to marry him! It took me a minute to say anything due to my shock and my partner had to ask me again. This time I answered, and said yes. Then, I got to return to my friends and family and celebrate my engagement with the important people in my life!

 My fiancé whisked me to Dublin the night before jetting off for a romantic weekend unaware of what was to happen. We arrived in Paris at the end of August, checked into the hotel to find while standing on the balcony of our hotel room we could nearly touch the Eifel Tower. After taking the bus tour and while on a walk back from dinner he proposed while on a bridge over the River Seinne, the lights of the Eifel Tower sparkling in the background.

 Well I was at home looking after our one year old child when my fiancé arrived home early from work which I thought was strange and he said that he had been trying to contact my father, but at the time my father was away on holiday in Tenerife.  I thought he was just trying to contact him as it was my wee nephews birthday and he was on holiday with my dad, then all of a sudden he got on one knee next to me and said well I tried doing this the proper way but your dad isn’t answering me, I just laughed because when I’m nervous I just burst out in to laughter but constantly sob too, Then he asked me to marry him, my words were 'are you being serious, OMG, OMG, OMG, are you joking. ‘To which he responded you haven’t answered me yet but I’m guessing the answer is yes seen as you have put the ring on, I was just so gob smacked and overwhelmed I forgot to say yes, Then I just looked at my little boy and started crying, because we were finally going to do things right.

My fiancé booked for us to stay in the Killyhevlin hotel, a balcony room overlooking lough erne. It was a gorgeous sunny weekend in June. He had arranged for us to hire a boat for the day, and after a morning's sailing we moored up on Devenish Island. Ian had packed a picnic, and while we were having it he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! He even had champagne packed in the event of me saying yes! On arrival back at the Killyhevlin he surprised me with a manicure to have my nails done to show off my ring to everyone when we got home.

 We got up on Christmas morning and all the kids opened their presents then we opened ours.  We went and had dinner at my mummies then came home.  He came in with the ring and asked me to marry him that was four years ago we haven’t got married yet as we haven’t had the money this would be a great help.

 I had had a really rough day at work and didn't get home until after 1am. My fiancé was still awake although in bed. I just wanted to sleep as I was so drained from work.  I met my fiancé through an internet chat room almost 8 years ago, we chatted for ages and soon I discovered that I actually looked after his young daughter at the nursery were I worked at the time and we just seemed to click. We were going out about a year when we me, my fiancé and his flat mate were having a few friends round for a wee party and it also happened to be 29th February, so while my fiancé  and I were having a wee dance I popped the question to him and he accepted, woohoo.

 my boyfriend and my 3 month old daughter went out while i was at the gym and came home and while i was getting dressed my boyfriend came into me and said my daughter wanted me and i went to her and there was a we note sitting on her knee saying mummy, will you marry daddy? and i turned around and my boyfriend was down on one knee. After 13 years of being childhood sweethearts, on both reaching 30th birthday we took a trip to Canada & New York. After watching the Macy's Thanksgiving parade, my fiancé & I took a walk around Central Park, where he found a quaint log seat. WE WANTED OUR ENGAGEMENT TO BE SHORT BUT AS WE HAD EVERY DAY BILLS TO PAY THE WEDDING WAS PUT TO ONE SIDE.  I was travelling around Thailand with my friends when my boyfriend came to join me for my final two weeks. We spent our first four days together in busy Phuket before travelling to the secluded island of "Phi Phi" otherwise known as "paradise". On our first night we headed out for a romantic dinner before lying on the beach to watch a Thai fire whilst sipping cocktails under the stars. Things could not have been more perfect little did i know what he had in store.  My fiancé then started to tell me about how much he missed me when I was travelling and how he had wrote me a poem to say so. As this was so unlike him I laughed as I thought he was joking, though he then started to read this out to me.  He had made up this poem himself and talked about how we had first met, how he got my number and places we have visited together. As Ii listened intently I was in a total daze when he started the last verse " So as I get down on one knee  will you make me the happiest man in the world

 We went on a two day trip to Paris. We went sightseeing and then my fiancé suggested we go on the Paris eye where you can see all the main tourist attractions from above. It was a stunning view. He pointed out the Eiffel tower for me to see and as i turned around to look at it he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him i said yes immediately and gave him a big hug. The date we got engaged was the same date we first meet 7 years ago.

 My partner, who I have been with for 6 years proposed to me on our first family holiday to Majorca, I didn’t expect it at all, as our holiday took us all year to save for and we were having a tough time. A tribute to girls aloud was singing on stage and they had called up a few mothers on stage along with their children whilst they sang 'Mama' by the spice girls, I had my 2 year old daughter on my knee. During their performance, my fiancé stopped the group and said I just want to ask the love of my life to marry me, and he got down on one knee and proposed, I was so embarrassed but I said yes and the girls aloud tribute band started singing 'I’ll stand by you'. It was so perfect and we are now trying to save for a wedding which will take us years, we really wish we could win this competition; it would be a dream come true to marry my first and only love.

 My fiancé booked a sky dive for me for Christmas as I am an adrenaline junkie. We made our way down to the sky jump on September 11th with our little girl and my fiancés mum. I was so excited about doing the sky dive and once I jumped out of the plane I thought this is the best day ever. However once I landed my fiancé got down on one knee and said some wonderful things about me. As soon as he said my name I knew what he was going to do and burst into tears, I struggled to get Yes out which I am sure didn't help his nerves, that day really did turn out to be the best day ever. It turned out also that he had also asked my father a month earlier if he could have my hand in marriage which was really lovely.

 My wedding proposal took place on Boxing Day 2007. My fiancé drove me to his family home in Crumlin for dinner.  On route we stopped off at a local beauty spot known as the Blue Bridge to admire the snow melting into the Crumlin river flowing into Lough Neagh. As we were sitting chatting he surprised me with a Christmas cracker. We pulled the cracker and the prize fell to the floor. I was busy looking at the novelty toy not realizing my other half was wanting me to read the little slip of paper which usually has a joke printed on it. When I read the slip of paper everything clicked in my head as my eyes filled with tears of joy. I said "yes" The joke was on me as the slip of paper read "Will you marry me?"

 I’ve been with my fiancé since I was 15. We were on our 1st holiday abroad to Egypt in May 2000.  We arrived at our hotel very late that night.  We left our bags off in our room & went to sit buy the loungers at the pool for a few minutes to have a drink before heading to bed.  He got down on 1 knee & I started laughing as i thought he was having me on, then I seen the ring & he asked me to marry him, it was very romantic as the lights from the pool shown through, but unfortunately the ring was far too big so I couldn’t wear it the whole holiday..

 On Christmas morning 2008 my daughter then 16 and my son then 10 were on holidays in Tenerife. They had just come into my room were my fiancé asked them what they got.  Then he gave me a few presents and had a sock on the smoke alarm on the ceiling so I had to stand on the bed to jump at this sock hanging as I had a present in the sock, as i am only five foot reaching this was hard eventually i got it...in this sock was an engagement ring, so he got down on one knee in front of my two kids and asked me to marry him...of course yes was said very quickly then a few weeks later I found out I was pregnant which now is a beautiful baby boy 13 months old.

 My partner proposed to me on Valentine's day 2003 we had just found out that I was expecting our first child and had planned to get married soon after she was born but unexpectedly I feel pregnant again with our second daughter, we now have four beautiful daughters and have had to put our wedding plans on hold as it is too expensive.

I had been with my boyfriend for eight months when on New Year’s Eve my boyfriend, myself and all our friends went out to a local night club to celebrate the New Year and start 2010 off with a bang. I remember it was a brilliant night because I was with the man I can only describe as my best friend and my true soul mate having a brilliant night out. I went up to dance with friends while he sat round the table with his friends having a drink and a laugh with them. I waved to him from the dance floor and wondered what was wrong with him because he looked like he wasn’t taking in any of the conversation his friends were having. Just as it was coming up to the countdown for the new year we returned back at the table when my boyfriend got down on one knee and presented me with the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen and told me that I was the love of his life and he wanted to spend the rest of his life growing old with me and was asking him to marry him. I was in such shock I burst into tears.

 I was standing in the kitchen making dinner feeling frustrated because my chicken wouldn’t hurry up and defrost.  My hunky boyfriend came into the kitchen from the backyard and asked me to go a message with him.  I told him i was busy and besides i wasn't even dressed because i had my pyjamas on. Reluctantly i went into the car and he handed me welly boots and asked me to put them on. Very confused i asked him what was going on but he just told me still that he had to go a message.  We pulled up along a roadside and he asked me to grab the torch from the glove box and follow him.  Extremely confused at this stage, i said I’m not going anywhere till you tell me where we're going. He walked on ahead and so i followed because i didn’t want to be left on my own. in the middle of the country side, over-looking Derry city at night with the lights glowing like a thousand stars that had fallen from heaven, we stumbled through a field in the dark with the torch, to reach a picnic blanket, a cd player and cd with my favourite songs, candles and some champagne and chocolate. As i was looking at the stars, Gary sat closer to me and put his arm round my waist.  When i turned to look at him, in the soft candle light, he smiled and asked “will you marry me?".  Straight away i said “of course i would” and he handed me the most beautiful ring but i dropped it on the grass.  After i picked it up, we laughed for ages. We lay under the stars, talking for hours until we almost fell asleep and we felt the cold.  The sky had changed to a powerful shade of crimson and orange when we knew it wouldn't be long before the sun was coming up.  We drove home during the most glorious sunrise i had ever seen, engaged after the most incredible night of my life

 My fiancé proposed on Friday 16th July 2010, at about 11 o’clock at night. We were in Cranfield just outside of Kilkeel and he told me we had to call round at a friend's house to pick something up, but as it turned out this was just an excuse to drive along the moonlit beach (very romantic)! We drove down to the end of the beach and we both got out of the car. Then he said, "I've brought you here under false pretences!" He got down on one knee and popped the question, and I said yes – of course! He told me he'd chosen Cranfield to propose because that's where we first met, 6 years ago.

 We had been having a rough couple of month’s money wise with the recession and he knew I had been down in the dumps even though he is the sweetest man I've ever met and does the kindest, nicest things for me.  He text me one day to say that he was going to brighten up my day and that he was on his way to get me from work. He walked into my office and knelt down beside my desk, he said I've got something to ask you, my mouth dropped as he took out a ring box from his pocket and asked me to be his wife. I left him kneeling for about 4 mins because I just couldn't believe he was asking me, I quickly gathered myself and shouted YES. He makes me the happiest girl in the world and that was the happiest day of my life..So far.

 It was 2 days after my 24th Birthday. Me and my fiancé were going away for the weekend to Galgorm manor. When we arrived we decided to explore the grounds and take a walk along the river. On the way back my then boyfriend said he'd something else for me for my birthday. He took me over by the rivers edge (in the muck!), made me close my eyes and produced the ring and the important question to go with it!! Best belated birthday pressie ever!

 My fiancé brought our 8 year old daughter into the town and asked her to help him pick the ring. He also bought her a lunch box for returning to school so when I collected them both I was unaware that my beautiful ring was in the lunch box. Later that evening (after he phoned my father to ensure he had permission to ask me to marry him) my partner cooked a beautiful dinner and just started talking about our 10 years together so far, and how happy he was.  My fiancé took me away for the weekend surfing to Lahinch in County Clare. After dinner of spicy chicken fajitas we had decided to go to the local beach front bar and have a wee drink. It was a lovely warm evening and as I was about to walk into the bar, my fiancé asked if I wouldn't mind going for a walk along the beach as he didn't feel 100% after the dinner. So I unwittingly said yes. As we walked along the beach he seemed distracted, in my innocence I had thought this was due to him feeling unwell. But as the sun began to set, he grabbed my hand to stop me from walking any further and told me that there was something he needed to do. He then produced a very sparkling diamond ring still in its box and asked me to marry him. I said yes immediately and with both of shaking like leaves he put the ring on.

 My fiancé proposed in Lanzarote on our third anniversary together, his first problem was getting the ring there!!! Juggling the ring between his jacket and our hand luggage, all to get through airport security and without me noticing what he was doing. Landing in Lanzarote, in 30 degree heat, he refused to take his jacket off, "I'm fine!!" he kept telling me, I never thought anything of it, we checked into our apartment and he managed to hide the ring until the evening of our anniversary. We went to one of our favourite restaurants, down by the harbour, for our anniversary meal, I had allowed myself to think..."if he was going to ask me he would do it here", but he didn't and I never thought about it anymore. After our meal heading back to the apartment, he said he wanted to walk along the beach as it was quieter than the streets, a few minutes into the walk he dropped back slightly, then called me back, he pulled the ring out and asked me to marry him, I said yes straight away.

 We were on holidays in Spain, it was a lovely day and we took a very romantic walk down the pier.  We walked for a while hand in hand talking and then turned to walk back to the apartments when he stopped under the most beautiful tree and got down on one knee and proposed with the most beautiful ring.

My Girlfriend proposed to me as I was too embarrassed to do it. I was in the bath and sitting on top of the sponge was a huge diamond ring for me, I was delighted.

 My fiancé proposed to me in Spain on a family holiday when we took a walk just the two of us along the beach, it was the anniversary of his grandfathers death which was usually a sad occasion, but he said he now wanted to remember the date with happiness, so he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. His family who we were on holiday with was overjoyed when we came back from our walk and showed them my ring.

 For my birthday he surprised me with Westlife tickets in Croke Park in Dublin and booked us a weekend there. Being a big Westlife fan i was over the moon and never suspected a thing. 5 months passed and we headed to Dublin on the Friday evening and checked into our hotel. We then decided to go for a walk and explore Dublin city. The further we got into Dublin the quieter he got. Eventually we came across St Stephens Green, it was the first time I had ever been there and I thought it was beautiful. It was a really hot summer’s day and the park was pretty crowded. We walked around for a while and eventually found a nice spot by the lake I was watching the ducks fight and thought he had gone very quiet, i turned around and to my surprise he was down on one knee holding a brown box. I was very taken back and didn’t know where to look out of embarrassment and nerves. He then smiled and said "I’ve never been as happy in all my life, will you marry me?" i replied yes of course.

 My partner and I fell in love straight away and had been dating for only six months at the time, when one night after a few drinks he casually got down on one knee and said!!  Will you marry me and have my babies! So I gladly said yes and nine years later we are still together with two beautiful children and still not married.

It was an ordinary Tuesday in June 2009. My Fiancé went out to the shop, He then rang me and said there's a taxi coming to get me get in it.  I actually thought he had rang the wrong person! Anyway the taxi driver was a local woman who I have known all my life, I asked her where we were going  and she asked did I not know?  Then yes I’m taking you to Parkanaur Forest up to the main house, when she seen my face she was worried she had said something she shouldn't have. When we reached the house at Parkanaur my fiancé was standing to the right on a path were an urn used to stand but isn't there anymore. I got out of the car and walked up to him, he stood there looking at me he took the little box out of his pocket and still didn't speak, i said his name, he was so nervous, he said "will you marry me" Of course I said yes and hugged him!  Where he chose to propose means the world to me, my granny passed away from cancer when I was very young

 He proposed out of the blue, after 5 years together. It was Easter weekend and we were staying at Malmaison hotel in Belfast. He told me had got me an Easter egg, and he had hide it in the safe in the hotel room! After a few cocktails he told me the pin number for the safe and told me to get my 'Easter egg' when I opened the safe there was no egg just a box with a beautiful ring he picked himself! He then proposed and I was very surprised and delighted - though I am still waiting for my eater egg??!

He is step-father to my 5 yr old now and when our daughter was a few months old he can home early 1 day and surprised me with the ring.
