Shopping for the groom at groomswear specialist Tuxs and Tails in Dungannon

A recent visit to Tuxs and Tails in Dungannon proved to be a successful day out.  My fiancé and I set off to Dungannon to check out the selection of wedding attire for the groom’s party.  Prior to making the appointment we had seen a small selection of Tuxs and Tails wedding attire at the Glenavon Hotel wedding fayre.

The men’s hire shop is located on the outskirts of the town centre at Unit 1, 40 Circular Road.  The shop has car parking onsite.

With an idea in mind of the colour and style of suit we were after we were able to view what was on offer.  One of the suits was quickly ruled out as the manufacture of this particular suit did not cater for leg sizes beyond 34 inches, something which we were quite surprised at.

Having priced the hire of groomswear with a few of the grooms hire shops in other areas like Cookstown, Magherafelt and Coleraine, the hire of suits for the grooms, groomsmen and fathers appears to be in and around the£70-£100 mark per suit.  This price includes the suit, shirt, waistcoat and cravat.

Having made a choice on the suit the next step was to decide on a waistcoat.   This proved to be more difficult than I thought it would be as there is such a huge range of waistcoats to choose from, although not all waistcoats are suited to every suit.  One thing that we were advised to bear in mind on choosing a waistcoat is that most of the grooms’ party will remove their suit jackets during the wedding day so it’s important to pick a waistcoat that won’t be too plain and also that will compliment the bridesmaid dresses and the wedding dress.  The cravats are also then matched to the waistcoats and the bridesmaid dresses.  Again these come in a wide range of colours.  Generally in the breast pocket of the grooms suit there is a handkerchief and then the groom’s party wear buttonholes.

Having made a choice on the suits, waistcoats and cravats and having confirmed numbers we were then advised to come back a couple of months before the wedding so that all the grooms’ party can get measured and the suits ordered in.  So from now until then all we need to do is purchase shoes to match the suits.
