We have finally made a decision on our wedding venue; we have chosen the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine.

With having a Christmas wedding we decided to limit the travel for our guests.  The Lodge Hotel is located approximately 20miles from where we plan to hold our wedding ceremony and the roads leading to the hotel are all main roads. If winter 2009 was anything to go by then travelling conditions will be difficult enough without asking our wedding guests to travel any further.

For those guests that wish to stay over on the night of the wedding The Lodge Hotel offers very attractive accommodation rates.  When paying our deposit the hotel asked us how many rooms we would like to reserve, we were then given a reference number to give to our guests and each room will receive the discounted rate.  When viewing the hotel we were shown a few of the guest rooms.  The rooms were very spacious, clean and nicely decorated.  Most importantly the bridal suite really won us over.  Within the bathroom there is a plasma screen on the wall just above the Jacuzzi.  The bedroom is very spacious and has a four poster bed.

Probably the most valid reason for choosing the Lodge Hotel is the fact that we attended a wedding there in May.   The food and service we received that day was second to none.  

The function suite within the Lodge Hotel can accommodate large numbers.  Having compiled a draft guest list our numbers are already reaching 200 and we are aware that this will probably increase slightly so it is good to know that we can increase our numbers without having to worry about space.  The function room also has a good sized dance floor in the middle of the floor and the bar is contained within the function room so guests are less likely to wander off.  The hotel has also recently carried out some refurbishments to the function room, hotel foyer and bedrooms and the work that has been done is very impressive.

On visiting the hotel we met with Keith who is the general manager.   We found him to be very helpful and willing to work with couples.  Having contacted the hotel on different occasions we have also found the staff to be very friendly and professional.

To be very honest, prior to attending a wedding in the Lodge Hotel it was a hotel that I had never associated with weddings so I would urge any other couples who have not yet decided on a wedding venue to check it out.  You will not be disappointed.
